Dollar Gains versus Most Counterparts

The U.S Dollar continued its advance versus most major counterparts today as investors speculated the Federal Reserve will take a gradual approach to expanding monetary stimulus, damping demand for higher yielding assets. The Japanese Yen was the only currency that strengthened despite the rising USD.

The dollar appreciated 0.6% to $1.39 per euro from $1.3977 per euro on Oct. 15, when the pair reached $1.4159 per euro, the strongest since Jan. 26. The yen strengthened to 81.22 per dollar. It was at 81.45 in New York on Oct. 15, when it touched 80.88, the strongest level since April.
