US gov't launches probe into Mariner platform fire

HOUSTON, Sept 3 (Reuters) - The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management said on Friday it is investigating a fire on a Mariner Energy oil and gas platform on Thursday.
"We are all relieved that the 13 personnel on the platform were rescued safely. We are continuing to closely monitor this situation, which will be investigated fully," agency director Michael Bromwich said in a statement. (Reporting by Kristen Hays)
